Hiroko Miyake

Miyake majored in clarinet at the Osaka College of Music, studying with Tetsuo Ogawa and Honda Koichi. After graduating, she pursued a career as a music therapist. Her practice includes working with people with disabilities, elderly people and in local communities. Miyake’s research concerns how different people can create a collaborative space through music. 

Miyake organises the “Shiba-no-Ie Otoasobi Laboratory” and Otomusubi Music Club”, and is a member of “Senju Dajare Improvisers Orchestra” and “Senju Chindon” band.

She is an associate professor at Kunitachi College of Music.

When performing, I too became enveloped in this place and that place, the world of the story and the world of the audience, and the time and space where they cross and connect with one another.”
