Yu Igarashi

Yu Igarashi studied voice with Keizo Takayoshi and Takanori Akiyama and nagauta shamisen with Gosakichi Kineya at the Tokyo College of Music. She performed in operas and musicals during her studies. After graduating, she changed direction to study straight plays and after completing a training course at the Seinenza Theatre Laboratory, Igarashi has

focused on performing in classic plays and translated adaptations. She is also a specialist salsa dancer.   

Igarashi formed the drama unit “Trees and Sun” (ki to taiyo) with the aim of creating work which provokes people to think, “I can make an impact with my life”, by awakening the powers of sense and reflection humans naturally possess. Igarashi works not only as an actress with this unit, but also as a producer and director.
